He was a shoe, now he is a watch
Stan Smith has become the elder tennis man, and yet he is more modern than any other tennis player of his time. Because one of the most successful tennis shoes, the Stan Smith by Adidas, is still extremely hip - over 100 million pairs have been sold since its release in 1971.

Stan Smith won a sensational 100 titles, many of them in doubles. His doubles with us didn't bring him a new title, but they did create a watch. The Stan Smith Signature Watch. It is limited to 100 watches per color worldwide - red, green, and blue. For his anniversary, we gave one of them to the person who showed us the best photo of himself in his Stan Smith.
With his book "Some people think I am a shoe" is in front of us. A terrific book about the history of the Stan Smith shoe and its namesake. We are pondering the next book - "I am not a watch". However, before that, we still have to sell 50 million watches... No, not for us, it will remain exactly these 100 per color. There are a few left. And soon there'll be one less. Because that one could be yours!
Interview with Stan Smith
Stan Smith: "Hopefully, the wearer of the Stan Smith Signature watches will be reminded about my legacy on the tennis court, as well as the shoes that bear my name. I should remind people that the watch is not associated with Adidas, but rather with my name and that the watch is visually inspired by the Adidas Stan Smith shoes.â
"Wearers of the Stan Smith Signature watch might also think of the long association that Stan Smith shoes have had with sports, fashion, music, and pop culture. A great timepiece does the job of reminding the wearer about other things, and I truly believe that a lot of our contemporary culture is built into this timepiece. Adidas Stan Smith shoes have been around for over 50 years and, hopefully, the watch will be around for that long, as well. I do hope it will be embraced as a special possession by those who own it. Thank you." Stan Smith:
