10 of our new Basel Date are celebrating it
Unbelievable but true – Photo Basel is turning 10! Since 2022, we have also been on a journey through the fascinating world of photography with our watches. We have come up with something special for this occasion.
Our City Date collection, featuring watches that speak the dialects of various regions of Switzerland – more on that later – will be expanded to include the Basel Date for the tenth Photo Basel.

Following the Zurich Date, the Bern Date and the Zug Date, the Basel Date now speaks the Basel dialect. This means that the days of the week on the Day-Date movement speak the language of the people of Basel.

A blue anti-reflective sapphire crystal reveals the pulsating calibre – the soul of the automatic movement becomes visible. The watch is alive!
The first ten watches will be numbered and engraved to mark the anniversary. They will be rare items. But that's not all. The first ten buyers will each receive an original photo of this year's Popsicle, regardless of the size of the watch they order. The photo is by PUTPUT, a multidisciplinary Swiss-Danish artist duo with a deep-rooted fascination for everyday life, who work primarily with conceptual still life photography, sculpture and unlikely objects. PUTPUT has been collaborating with Photo Basel for 10 years and creates a new Popsicle every year.
What happened so far:
Since MDM first appeared at Photo Basel, we have been offering an MDM photography prize – and we purchase the winning photo every year. We are building up a small photo collection because we love photography. We will be doing the same again this year.
So what now? Take a good look at the Basel Date and hurry if you want to be among the first ten. We have had enough watches assembled by our watchmakers, unnumbered. They are already humming and "chattering" in our atelier.
