To indicate GMT, the L2 has another hour hand, which is typically arrow-shaped than the 12-hour hand. In contrast to the hour hand, the GMT hand circles the dial once within 24 hours, i.e. only half as fast, so you can also set and keep an eye on the time in another time zone.L2 Helium release valve
During extreme diving situations, helium atoms make their way into the watch. As such, the process of decompression could dislodge the watch crystal. The helium release valve prevents this from occurring by allowing the excess pressure to escape via the valve, due to this special valve, it is possible to dive below 300 meters.L2 Caseback
A watch like a lion, a sea lion. What animal is closely associated with people and is known for its skillful ability to dive to great depths? The sea lion. The backside of the L2 is adorned with this magnificent creature, whose maneuverability, elegance and function is attuned to life underwater. Represents a diving watch blending all of these traits. Given that the lion is the symbol of Zurich, the city that has shaped the evolution of this watch, it seems only appropriate that the sea lion should be the symbol of the Maurice de Mauriac L2. Not all steels are created equal. We use 316L stainless steel; one of the hardest premium steels in the world. In addition to its hardness and resistance, this high-quality steel stands out because of its finish as well as its very fine silver hue. 316L steel has a significantly lower nickel emission than, for instance, 904L steel, which is also a high-strength steel alloy. This is, for us, a reason to favor 316L stainless steel.L2 GMT – The darker, the brighter
Super-LumiNova is a brand name under which strontium aluminate–based non-radioactive and non-toxic photoluminescent or afterglow pigments for illuminating markings on watch dials, hands and bezels, etc. in the dark are marketed. This technology offers up to ten times higher brightness than previous zinc sulfide-based materials. When the luminescent pigments were stimulated by daylight or artificial light, they give off light energy in the dark for several hours. This gives the watch extremely good clarity even in the dark.1

Fabian Schwaerzler, Swiss designer and purist, has chosen the simple line as the core, clean, minimal design element and thus gave birth to the L-Series. Connecting the line series from the Bauhaus era, to the present Icons of watch design they have since become. His minimalist design allows the watches to be discreetly present, yet in addition, fill the void. Follow the line. This series will show you the beauty of time.

BIG MOVE! Our atelier has always been in the right location, but now we are moving it.
We had to make a decision for the next 30 years. We made it. After much hesitation and discussion.
The atelier is getting a new address.
We are not revealing the new address yet. Suffice to say that our father would have loved the address with all his heart. That’s why we love it too.
The atelier will be available at the beginning of the year. We are now looking for new tenants. How wonderful it would be if someone wanted to take the spirit that will forever fill these rooms with them, so that they could celebrate similar successes in exactly the same place. Perhaps – inspired by this – even greater ones.
Is that you? Do you know someone who would like to or could be? Do you know someone who knows someone who would like to? With these words, we simply want to prevent someone from saying to us at some point: “If only I had known.” Or “Why didn’t you say anything?”
We are happy to tell interested parties about the special features of the location and the rooms. Because the atelier is close to our hearts.
In the coming weeks and months, you will find out where we have moved to in Zurich. And no, it’s not Bahnhofstrasse. It’s “Danielstrasse” opposite “Daniel-Ort”!
