Maurice de Mauriac brings the Rallymasters to the traditional Hana Bank Korea Open
The Hana Bank Korea Open is a 1 million USD WTA Tour event in Seoul and we are the official timekeeper of the tournament. This is the perfect stage for a limited edition Rallymaster - the Rallymaster Korea Open. The three winners of the tournament, singles and doubles, will receive the Rallymaster as a prize. The edition of 100 watches is now available exclusively through our webshop for tennis and watch fans known worldwide as discerning.
A watch that the K-Pop returns
K-pop is currently flooding the European charts, influencing club culture and leaving its mark on the fashion industry. A phenomenon of surprising proportions. It was precisely at this moment that Massimo and Leonard met Korean watch enthusiast and tournament director Tony Cho in Wimbledon at the launch of the Rallymaster III: "You could bring back the K-Pop trend with a watch like this." Now the advantage of a family-owned speedboat as opposed to a large watch tanker became apparent. We were able to recruit Carlton DeWoody, the designer of the Rallymaster series that we launched together with Racquet, for the Korea Open Edition. In the atelier, the heart of the Maurice de Mauriac brand, this breathtaking hustle and bustle began immediately and the pulse rate rose.
The watch that shows its colours
We are proud to have the chance to go to Korea when Korea is going to the world. Carlton DeWoody has made the Rallymaster Korea Open another design highlight of the Rallymaster series with South Korean colouring. South Korean blue in the familiar desaturated colour of the Rallymaster watches characterises this unique watch. The Rallymaster Korea Open thus breaks out of the colour world of the four Grand Slam Rallymasters - and yet reveals a great design idea as a staple.
The Rallymaster Korea Open proudly bears the words ‘Swiss Made With Love’ with the translation of "with Love" into Korean. A tribute to the country and the people who invited us to create a watch for them.
Everybody loves their time
Designer Carlton DeWoody's love of vintage tennis and exceptional chronographs has come together in the Rallymaster Korea Open to create a horological gem that is adored by lovers of the 60s and 70s as well as design enthusiasts among watch lovers.
Because love grows when it is shared, many have invested their love in the Rallymastern Korea Open. Carlton De Woody, the US designer, the award-winning Vintage Racquet magazine, the tournament director Tony Cho and the whole Dreifuss family, who realised this unique watch with Maurice de Mauriac and became the official timekeeper of the tournament in Seoul. A new high point in the brand's love affair with tennis, which has lasted 27 years and had many highlights.
Grown rather than invented
Daniel Dreifuss, founder of Maurice de Mauriac, was a passionate tennis fan. The spirit of the players was very close to his. Tennis was therefore always a matter close to Maurice de Mauriac's heart. Massimo Dreifuss: ‘Maurice de Mauriac supported Stan Wawrinka when he was still a junior; among other things, we were the official timekeeper of the Swiss Open in Gstaad. Only we have our own timekeeper with the legendary trainer champion Stan Smith. Friends and ambassadors from the tennis world, such as the charismatic WTA star Andrea Petkovic and the unconventional French player Benoit Paire, have been with us for years.
Leonard Dreifuss: "It is an honour to be chosen as the official timekeeper of the Korea Open. And anyone who enters our atelier in Zurich will feel that we live tennis and these honours and have not just discovered them as a marketing theme."
The horological aspect of the watch
The Rallymaster Korea Open is limited to only 100 pieces and is presented in a special box with a personalised tennis ball and an additional strap: a two-piece elastic strap and a milanese bracelet (both with quick release) for versatility on and off the court. Pre-orders are now available on the Maurice de Mauriac website at www.mdm-watches.com.
