A journey to the end of Europe
The Cook travel agency sent the first tourists to the North Cape from London in 1875. In 1898, the first post office opened there and facilitated a casual tradition with its champagne counter - because when you arrive at the North Cape, you drink champagne. In 2023, a team drives a BMW E30 to the North Cape. Discovered, developed and touristically overworked, the Cape is already. So why this drive?
Because Tim Riva has an E30, because he and his colleagues from the Alpineracer team love adventure. Because the ride allows for an absolutely unique amount of content in overwhelming quality. Because there are people who believe in and support such ideas. Among them are us, Maurice de Mauriac, the Dreifuss family.
As the official Timekeeper of the Expedition E30 to North Cape, we were not only responsible for the time, but also dedicated our own watch to this adventure. The Chrono Modern in the Alpineracer North Cape Edition. The watch will be presented to the public on 14.4. at Man's World in Oerlikon. The Chrono Modern is an absolute classic in our collection and has accompanied - and survived - pretty much every climatic and physical extreme in different editions. Spoiler: Also this expedition.
The team around Tim Riva, Cyrill Zürcher and Seya Eggler started at another partner of ours, the ACE Cafe in Lucerne. The E30 and the support vehicle, a Genesis GV70, provided by Genesis for the expedition, started the 11-day journey. In addition to plenty of spare parts, the two vehicles were filled to the brim with photo and film equipment, and minds and hearts were full of expectation.
The team, the E30 and the spirit of adventure were challenged to the maximum. From the weather. Storms, freezing cold, hail, rain, the conditions of the roads - the climate here in the north left nothing out. Here and there there were failures in the automotive technology. But everything was manageable. Our watches whirred undaunted toward the North Cape.
Thank you for allowing us to be there with our watches. Thank you for being so wonderfully crazy. That impresses us.
