An imposing watch on the arm of a powerful man - an impressive image.
When we are looking for big, strong men in Switzerland, we go to the swingers. Our new watch size of 48 millimetres is designed for strong arms and we found them among the swingers. Samir Leuppi, 195 cm tall and weighing 145 kilograms, wears our Chrono Modern Big Date - the ‘beast’ among our watches - and makes the large watch on his arm look normal in a very special sense.
After a few hours in the sawmill, we are certain that Samir Leuppi is the big man for the big date.
To be able to take photos of Samir and the Big Date, we met up where big wrestlers are made. On the wrestling ground, in the ring, in the sawdust. There is a lot that is special about wrestling. This includes the very vague technical regulations. Much is at the discretion of the judges. This also applies to the length of the ‘courses’. This is in stark contrast to Samir's profession. He is a passionate policeman who ensures that social rules are adhered to.
Samir is already a weighty figure in the typical clothing of the Schwinger. This is even more extreme in his police uniform. But if you know him, you know he's amiable and approachable, unless you become his opponent - here and there.
What could be better than feeling a watch? Such a feeling defies description. Enjoy the pictures, enjoy the special people, let yourself fall in - feel it.
After a visit to the ring, we instinctively say goodbye in the same way that wrestlers leave the ring after a fight - the winner pats the loser appreciatively on the sawdust from his back where the loser had previously landed. The wrestler and the ‘beast’, the Chrono Modern Big Date - the scent of sawdust and battle, everything merges into an intense, lasting memory.
